THRILLER IN MANILA – BANGKOK VICTORIOUS AGAIN AT AEPC 2014

The Asia Expat Pool Challenge was decided in the last round of matches of the event. With four teams in contention it was a thrilling finish with the positions for second through to fourth being decided in the last two frames. Bangkok secured first place earlier in the last round but with Manila, Singapore and Jakarta all needing to win their last two frames to take out second position it was a battle right to the finish.

In the end it was a tied score of 95 frames for both Manila and Singapore however Manila won on a count back to secure second position and Singapore taking out third position. Jakarta finished fourth on 93 points after a slow start but finish strongly to challenge the leaders.

All seven cities showcased some very talented players and the standard of competition was the highest in the history of the competition. Bangkok’s experience was a deciding factor playing well under pressure.

The event was staged at Resorts World Manila, a world class venue with hundreds of people attending over the two days.

THE PHNOM PENH PARROTS (PPP) STORY

PPP

The Phnom Penh Parrots(PPP) is a new team entrant into the Asia Expat Pool Challenge and will be participating in the Manila Event in September 2014.
The development of PPP is largely due to the efforts of Jean – Francois Boulmier aka “Jeff” who first contacted us prior to AEPC Jakarta 2013 and said “can Phnom Penh join AEPC sometime in the future”. Jeff came to Jakarta to watch the AEPC Event and was impressed and with enthusiasm went back to Phnom Penh and started to raise a team.

The PPP team was then put together in just a couple of months with the core of the team coming from the Pickled Parrot Bar located in 104 Street which is located near the riverside in Phnom Penh. The team is truly a league of nations with players coming from France, UK, Germany, Philippines, Australia, USA and others. This story is very similar to Saigon Legends who finished third in the AEPC 2013.

If you are an expat living in Phnom Penh and would like to know more about PPP then you can go the city page on this website – PHNOM PENH PARROTS for the contact details.
