After losing to Bangkok Heat who have been the benchmark of Asia Pool Challenge the last four years, the Jakarta All Stars finally won the event by defeating Bangkok Heat 88 to 84 frames.

 

At the close of play on day one, Jakarta and Bangkok were level at 48 frames with Singapore on 47 and Saigon on 44 frame so all these teams were in serious contention leading into the second day.

 

As proven in the past consistency is important to win this event and Jakarta All Stars did exactly that.  After the sixth round with just one round the race was down to two teams – Bangkok and Jakarta. In an exciting finish with Bangkok Heat (1) showing why they have been the best team for the past four years started very strongly and were up 7 – 1 against Jakarta All Stars (1) but then Jakarta won every remaining frame. With Jakarta having an extra match to play in the final round to even the number of games played Jakarta All Stars(2)beat Manila (2) 8  to 4 frames. This result sealed the win for Jakarta All Stars.

 

After every city playing 144 frames of pool over tow days the event was over and there is no doubt that the level of competition has risen again.

APC SUPER SINGLES 2016

The Asia Pool Challenge Super Singles 2016 will be hosted in Ho Chi Minh City in September next year.

To qualify for this tournament players will need to meet the following requirements. Only two players from each city will be invited to play.

 

1)      Must play in the APC JAKARTA 2015 Team event.

2)      Must play in all 12 frames.

3)      The player from each city that has the most winning frames immediately qualifies.

4)      If there are two players from a city that each have the most winning frames then both immediately qualify.

5)      If there are three or more players from a city each having the most winning frames then a play- off will be needed to determine the two players to qualify

6)      If there is only one player with the most winning frames then the following shall apply to the qualification of the second player –

  • The player who has the second highest winning frame count shall qualify.
  • If there are two or more players with the second highest frame count then a play – off will be needed to determine the second player to qualify.

7)      Each city must confirm their two qualified players by no later than 31 March 2016.

8)      If in the event that a confirmed player becomes unavailable then the City Team Manager shall nominate a substitute based on the above qualifying requirements.

9)      If in the event that a confirmed player does not arrive to play then a substitute shall be provided by the host city subject to the above qualifying requirements.

 

Prize money and trophies will be awarded at this event – more details to follow next year. – good luck to all players participating in APC JAKARTA 2015.

ASIA POOL CHALLENGE 2015 – JAKARTA UPDATE

Seven cities are now confirmed for the APC JAKARTA 2015 Team Event including Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, Shanghai and Singapore.

There will be over 100 players and supporters coming to Jakarta to do battle on November 6 & 7 at the Dungeon Pool Lounge in Kemang.

Bangkok Heat are again the hot favourites to take home the trophy which they have successfully defended for the past four years. So will one of the other teams wrest the trophy from Bangkok Heat is the big question. Only time will tell.

ASIA POOL CHALLENGE 2015 – TEAM EVENT

The APC Team Event will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2015. The participating cities are Bangkok, Shanghai, Manila, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh and of course Jakarta.

With over 100 overseas players plus Jakarta  participating it will be a large event. Below are the event details

Pool Venue: Dungeon Pool Lounge, Kemang.

Dates:

  • Friday 6 Nov. – 11am to 10pm
  • Saturday 7 Nov. – 11am to 9pm

Meet & Greet: Dungeon Pool Lounge, Kemang.

  • Date: Thursday 5 Nov – 6pm to 9pm.

RUAIRI McCARROLL WINS AEPC SUPER SINGLES 2015

After surviving a close encounter with Jakarta’s Alex McMillan in a quarter final, winning 3 -2, Ruairi McCarroll representing Bangkok then cruised through his semi- final to set a grand final challenge with the defending champion, Freddie Soh from Shanghai. The final was surprisingly one sided with Ruairi setting up a 3 -0 lead which placed a lot of pressure on Freddie who then won the fourth frame. The crowd was anticipating a comeback from the defending champion but it was Ruairi who was playing with a lot of confidence continued on his winning way in the next two frames setting up a 5 -1 victory.

 

Third place went to Chng Kheng Leng (KL) from Ho Chi Minh City after he defeated the fast improving Klaudia Djajalie from Jakarta 4 – 2 frames.
